How accessible are our digital services?
We recognise that not everything is fully accessible to all our visitors. This is something we are working to address. We would be very grateful if you could report any issues to accessibility@gant.com so that we can make the experience better for everyone. In this section, we describe the accessibility of our websites, apps, social media and other services.
Our website
As a visually impaired user, you may encounter: images without descriptive text, low contrast between text and background, forms or buttons that do not read correctly in screen readers, lack of confirmation when something is added to the cart
As a user with motor impairments or who navigates by keyboard, you may encounter: difficulty navigating or operating elements such as: filters, dropdowns and buttons if they are not accessible via keyboard or lack clear focus indicators.
As a user with cognitive disabilities, you may encounter: moving content that can’t be paused, unclear error messages, or interface changes (such as expanding sections) that are not clearly announced to assistive technologies.
Description: Heading tags are misused. For example, "Enter promo code" is incorrectly coded as a heading, and "Become a member and get free shipping" should be a level 2 heading.
Action: We are reviewing heading usage to ensure it reflects the correct semantic structure. Non-heading content currently marked as headings will be adjusted, and key sections will be assigned appropriate heading levels for improved accessibility.
Action by: Spring 2026
Description: On several pages, heading levels are disordered. For instance, there is no H1 for "Men's Clothing," and subcategories like "RSVP-Ready" appear at inappropriate levels.
Action: We plan to improve heading hierarchy by ensuring each page includes one clear H1 and that subheadings follow a logical H2–H3 structure. This work will be addressed during the upcoming content and layout updates.
Action by: Spring 2026
Description: Some page animations run for longer than 5 seconds and cannot be paused or stopped, which can distract or overwhelm users.
Action: Describe what actions you’re taking. Example: We are planning to implement visible options to pause, stop, or hide moving content.
Action by: June 2025
Description: The "Add to wishlist" button is not visible unless hovered with a mouse, making it difficult to locate for keyboard users.
Action: We will update the "Add to wishlist" button to ensure it is either always visible or clearly styled when focused via keyboard. This will help improve discoverability and access for non-mouse users.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: On smaller screens or when using magnification, horizontal scrolling is required to access filter options.
Action: We are reviewing the filter layout to ensure it adapts better to smaller screens and magnified views. Planned updates will reduce the need for horizontal scrolling and improve overall mobile responsiveness.
Action by: Spring 2026
Description: When expanded, the filter component cannot be dismissed using the ESC key. Users must click outside the filter with a mouse. This is a barrier for keyboard-only users but also for people using screen magnification, who may not see the entire overlay or the clickable area outside the filter. As a result, the overlay can hide important page content, leading to confusion and making it difficult to use the page.
Action: We are addressing this issue by adding keyboard support for closing the filter overlay using the ESC key. This will make the component easier to navigate for keyboard and screen magnification users.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: The sorting dropdown cannot be reached or used with the keyboard, preventing selection of sort options.
Action: We will improve the sorting dropdown to support full keyboard navigation. This includes ensuring the dropdown can be opened, navigated, and selections made using the keyboard alone.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: Buttons to toggle between large and small images are not accessible via keyboard.
Action: We are updating the grid view toggle buttons to ensure they are fully operable using a keyboard. This includes adding focus styles and proper roles so users can easily switch between layouts without using a mouse.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: Text on background images has low contrast in some areas, making it hard to read.
Action: We are reviewing sections where text appears on background images and will adjust contrast through design changes such as overlays or background adjustments. The goal is to ensure all text remains readable and meets accessibility contrast requirements.
Action by: Spring 2026
Description: On the product detail page, users cannot select color or size options using the keyboard.
Action: We are updating the color and size selectors on product pages to ensure they can be fully accessed and selected using a keyboard. This includes adding focus indicators and ensuring each option can be navigated and activated without a mouse.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: A decorative icon (ruler) is announced to screen readers as a button even though it is decorative.
Action: We will review and update decorative icons to ensure they are correctly hidden from assistive technologies. In this case, the ruler icon will be marked as decorative and removed from the accessibility tree to avoid confusion.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: On Product Detail Pages, users cannot switch between product images using the keyboard.
Action: We are improving the product image gallery so that users can navigate and switch between images using the keyboard. This includes adding focusable elements and enabling left/right key navigation where applicable.
Action by: June 2025
Description: Screen readers do not announce feedback when a product is added to the cart.
Action: We will add accessible live region updates to confirm when a product is added to the cart. This will ensure screen reader users receive immediate feedback without needing to manually check the cart.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: The orange error message has insufficient contrast (2.6:1), making it hard to read.
Action: We are adjusting the color styling of error messages to ensure sufficient contrast between text and background. The updated design will meet the minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio required for readability.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: Errors like "The phone number must be in the right format" do not explain what input is expected.
Action: We are reviewing all error messages to ensure they guide the user on how to recover from the error. This includes updating messages to clearly describe what went wrong and what input is expected, helping users correct issues more easily.
Action by: Spring 2026
Description: After expanding "Order summary," the screen reader still reads it as minimized due to incorrect ARIA state.
Action: We will correct the ARIA attributes on interactive elements like the “Order summary” toggle to ensure screen readers accurately reflect their current state. This will improve clarity and navigation for assistive technology users.
Action by: Fall 2025
Description: When opening the filters using Safari on a MacBook, the focus does not move to the filter options.
Action: We will update the setup to support Safari’s accessibility (ADA) functionalities, ensuring it works as expected. This will improve clarity and navigation for users of assistive technologies.

How we work with accessibility
At GANT, we believe accessibility is essential for creating a great online experience for everyone. Our goal is to ensure that our e-commerce site is usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability.
How we test our site
We regularly test our e-commerce site using both automated tools and manual checks to assess accessibility. This includes reviewing areas like keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, color contrast, and clarity of information. To strengthen our efforts, we time to time also partner with external accessibility specialists who perform detailed audits and provide recommendations for improvement.
Commitment to learning and improving
Accessibility is an ongoing journey. Our developers keep up to date with accessibility guidelines and requirements, while our in-house designers are continuously learning to better integrate inclusive design principles into their work. We actively share knowledge across teams to help everyone stay informed and avoid publishing non-accessible content.
Working with specialists
We recognize the value of expert input. By working with accessibility specialists, we gain insights that help us identify barriers and make our website more accessible over time. These collaborations also support the growth and learning of our internal teams.
Notifying the market surveillance
The accessibility requirements of the law are considered to be met with the exception of known deficiencies listed in this accessibility statement.
